HERE and NOW
EVEN BETTER TOMORROW
MUST TURN INTO “PRESENT” TO PROVE ITSELF BETTER
There were
two saints living in an Ashram, situated at a very aloof place. The saints had
the privilege of getting teaching and life lessons from a respected Guru. As to
gain knowledge about Nature as a part of their learning process, the two went to
a forest and stayed there for few days. On their way back to Ashram, there was
a bridge over a river which they had to cross.
As they
embarked near bridge, they saw one little girl of about 10-12 years trying hard
to start her journey on bridge. One of the saints felt her fear and went straight to her. He carried the little girl on his shoulder and initiated his
bridge-walk. The journey almost took 20 mins and then, the two saints and
little girl reached the other side of the river safely. The little girl was relaxed
feeling herself safe and thanked the saint. The saint smiled at her and acknowledged
her gratitude.
The two saints continued their journey and were already half a mile away from Ashram. The other saint, who witnessed this good deed of his friend helping a little girl showed that he was not actually a saint but a layman as such, by his next few words. He asked his friend, “Do you have any idea of what you just did? We are not allowed to touch a lady and you held this girl for 20 mins on your shoulder and you did not even feel otherwise doing so. Don’t you feel sorry for your sin? Did you forget all our lessons?”
The other
saint answered, “There cannot be any lesson which prevents a human to help
another. Helping a child can never be a sin. Just think once, even if you
consider this as a sin, I did it for 20 mins, but you are carrying it since
then. It is almost three hours now that I left the child and parted ways, but
it is you who is still holding her in your mind and thought.”
This episode
describes each one of us so as it portrays these saints. Such incidents usually
happen in our life wherein we feel hatred or anger for people around us. Instead
of having a discussion and finding ways to resolve those, we get boiled to our
extreme. We unnecessary carry and live with the burden of things which has
already happened and more importantly, the things which are not going to get
alter now. Our indulgence into past and “who did what wrong” eats our present
and peace both. We genuinely do not even attempt to understand that we are
nobody to certify someone as right or wrong. Negativity and pessimistic approach
are too burdensome to live with. Just stick to compassion.
With every
60 seconds of our involvement into things we did not like once, we lose 1
minute of our happy present which is in our hand. Future is composed of NOW and
never THEN. Occupancy of our dislikes/prejudicial opinions for fluffy individuals
will eat our part of thoughts which could have been filled with things we like
and love. In a way, we are doing injustice to something we really like if we
keep filling our mind with things that does not matter for us. Pour in only the
thoughts you love. Mountains are not meant to be carried; they are supposed to
be climb.
Let everything
that happens to you, be a part of tomorrow’s miracle. Keep your treasure box
filled with love, peace and happiness by learning to say NO to garbage and YES
to affirmations !
